Only Curls is a London based curl brand that is au natural and kind to your hair. The brand is vegan, cruelty free and the packaging is recyclable. Not only that, it’s free from sulphates, silicones and parabens. Sounds like a bliss little concoction, right?
I thought so too, so I had to try.
For the first time in over a year I opted for a new hair routine and ordered Only Curls Mini Collection, as well as a sleep bonnet and bandana.
The Mini Collection, costing £30, includes a cleanser (shampoo), conditioner, curl creme and gel. The products all smell amazing, it’s like sherbet or a summery cocktail and lets be real, who wouldn’t want their hair to smell like that?
I gave these products two attempts before writing this, as product amount and technique are not always my strongest points.
Overall, I think the products are lovely due to all the reasons I have stated above but I don’t think I’ll be reaching for them every hair day.
Overall, my curls sit lovely, but I have noticed there is more frizz with these products than there is with my usual hair routine, even when I use a deep conditioning treatment prior.
Furthermore, I hate touching hair and feeling like there is product residue transferred to my hands, which has been the case on both occasions of using them even after a day or two.
Don’t get me wrong, these make my about 80% of my curls look lovely, and I still get a tight coil on the majority of them. It’s just not quite the right mix for my hair – that doesn’t mean to say it won’t be absolutely perfect for yours.
I do not believe in bashing companies, unless they’ve done something absolutely dire. The products are anything but that, in fact I think they are great. They have a lot going for you, and the mini collection is the perfect way to find what products you like most.
The cleanser and condition will still be used, and I think I’ll try mixing the gel and crème with some of my other products.
FYI, if you’re still reading – I absolutely adore my bonnet. I think I look bloody adorable in it. My hair still felt a little tuggy/matted so I recommend keeping your hair up, even in a bonnet but otherwise, I think it’s lovely.
The bandana is amazing if, like me, you sleep with your hair in the pineapple style. It’s slightly too big for me, hence why I opt for my bonnet, but other than that, what a bloody cute purchase.
Overall rating? 7.5/10
